Subject: Tidbit - "Sore Winners" Editorial

Keyword: Advocacy, Why Macs Are Better

This tidbit is from:

Mike DeVaney

In April Windows NT Systems magazine the Editor-in-chief Nicholas Baran
wrote an editorial titled "Sore Winners" in which he took both Andy Grove
and Bill Gates to task for recent unneccessary bully tactics. The
concluding paragraph is terrific, considering the magazine's venue:

"I wish Microsoft would spend more time fixing some of the glaring
problems with Windows and less time throwing its weight around. For
example, try shift-clicking to select a bunch (but not all) of the icons
in a folder. It doesn't work properly in either Windows NT or Windows 95
(it works perfectly on a Mac), and my guess is, it never will."

See <http://www.ntsystems.com/nts204tc.htm> for the entire editorial.

That's actually the biggest problem I have switching from one OS to
another (hey, I occaisionally help misguided friends who are stuck Wintel
boxes :): I'll use a shortcut that I use all the time on the Mac without
thinking about it, and I'll get the dreaded "unexpected results".

If memory serves, I think OS/2 handles shift-clicking correctly. :-)
