An EvangeLista Who Wishes to Remain Anonymous

Recently the company I work for, a large electronics company with
literally thousands of computers, about 60/30/10% Wintel/Mac/UNIX, made a
decision...

Employees are no longer allowed to do self-installs of Windows or Windows
NT. To get W95 or NT, an approval process must be followed and a fee paid
to the IT services provider.

If you do a self-install and experience problems, you will be charged a
"penalty fee beyond the installation fee", for the IT provider to come
and fix the problem.

Mac users? "This does not apply to Mac users. Mac users may continue to
do operating system self-installs."

OS 8.1 is currently available.
