Subject: As painless as a haircut

Two words: iMovie and iPhoto

There’s nothing else like them — anywhere! In every aspect these two
applications sealed the deal.

My switch from the PC to a Mac was about as painless as a haircut. Sure,
there’s some time involved, but you don’t feel a thing. The end result:
clean-cut and utterly manageable.

iPhoto is a dream come true! I had no idea what I was going to do with
several thousand digital pictures, until I realized just how easy it was
to import all of them into iPhoto. After burning my photographs to CD’s,
I merely imported them straight into iPhoto. In a matter of minutes it
was done! Now rather than an amalgamation of directories and files, I
have my photos laid out and supremely organized in iPhoto.

iMovie excited me so much I went out and bought a DV camcorder! I can’t
think of a single PC application that has made me go and buy hardware,
unless it was another hard drive...

The switch was very natural though. OS X, while powerful, is extremely
easy to master. I found myself almost giddy ay its presentation.
Everything I use, from Photoshop to Eudora is available as a native OS X
application. For some specific programs I just fire up VirtualPC and
boot Windows 2000 right in the Mac. Amazing!

I’m no novice, but nothing in computing from the past 10 years has
excited me as much as what has come out of Apple. OS X, iPhoto and
iMovie, iTunes the “Digital Hub”... It just makes sense!
