"NASA, the U.S. Navy, and university campuses throughout the nation were
the targets Monday evening of "denial of service" attacks on computers
running Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95 operating systems.

"The attacks, waged over the Internet, made computers crash and caused
what is known as the "blue screen of death"--a reference to the blue
screen that accompanies Microsoft's "fatal error" message."

The article goes on to talk about the fact that this wasn't a "new"
problem, but one that was fixed with a patch released in January. It's
pointed out by one of the victims that there's a "steady stream of
patches" coming from Microsoft, implying that it's not easy to keep up
with the current version.
