InfoWorld runs a weekly "Window Manager" column by Brian Livingston, who is a savvy Windows guru. You should his column, if for nothing else but a good laugh or to help yourself work up some pity for your favorite Windows user. This week, the entire article deals with one Windows DLL (sort of a Windows equivalent to an extension), CTL3D32.DLL, and the all-too-common problems that occur when different programs--including Microsoft's--install different versions of the DLL. After reading this article, remind yourself that there are literally hundreds of different DLLs on a typical Windows system, and wonder anew at how the stuff ever boots up in the first place. Just one more place to say, "Those problems never happen on a Mac." <http://www.infoworld.com/cgi-bin/displayNew.pl?/livingst/livingst.htm> |
